Although robots are used for may types of welding processes, this site concentrates mainly on MIG/MAG welding with its variants of twin wire MIG/MAG welding and Cold Metal Transfer.

Other welding processes suitable for robots are:

Laser hybrid welding

Ultrasonic welding

MIG/MAG welding

MIG/MAG welding is by far the most popular welding process  for robots and is relatively easy to achieve provided joint fit up is within tolerance.

Cold Metal Transfer welding

CMT is the now not so new process from Fronius that is gaining impact on the market for robotic welding. It is a great process if heat input is an issue.

Twin wire MIG welding

Many companies in the yellow goods industry (earth moving vehicles, etc) weld assemblies with thick plate and long seams. Twin wire welding can provide some productivity improvements
